Philosophy
When I decided to take the jump and start Wolves Jiu-Jitsu, I wanted to do things a little differently than what you traditionally see at many other BJJ gyms. Those who have been in the game for a while, understand that their is an impossible amount of technique available to learn. My goal is take the game and begin to strip it back to its roots, meaning every class we work in live situations, the fundamental goals for the common situations. I plan on removing the things practitioners often disdain about class ( speeches, unrelated warmups, paid promotions) and keeping what makes people want to come to class in the first place. This means no more boring warmups, less fluff , and more active classes, like grappling from low variable situations, that will allow students to get warmed up without increase to injury. We are here to create an atmosphere that encourages creative expression, mutual support, fun, but with emphasis on hard work, live training, and a focus on core concepts. Consistency and hard work is the only way to get proficient at Jiu-Jitsu and I don’t believe in telling people otherwise. Jiu-Jitsu is tough, but many of those who train will say it has produced some of the best memories in their lives and has also led to many improvements in their quality of life . Our mats are open to everybody who respects the basic guidelines, regardless of their background or goals.
In addition we aim to create a social club aspect. At a lot of gyms people train and go home. We aim to have everything from event watch parties, table and video games, fundraisers for charities, and more to help us create a strong culture between all of us and do good for the community.
